Typical Achievements:

Defining strategy and leading the delivery of an ongoing programme of disaster recovery / business continuity testing within one of the major European financial institutions;

Review of departmental Business Continuity plans, followed by development, implementation and exercising of Crisis Management Team and Plan for major High Street Bank;

Setting up of Business Continuity plan for shore based operations of major travel company, within very strict corporate guidelines;

A major and complex exercise of the full disaster recovery and business continuity resources of a company regulated by the FSA. This exercise, involving a number of components, encompassed IT recovery (through a third party hotsite) together with extensive testing of a number of remote locations, the simulation of all priority business operations and extensive testing of the client’s emergency communications (both logically and the technical infrastructure).
In our experience this was one of the most complex and challenging exercises of which we are aware to be undertaken by any client within the UK;

The development of a company wide Business continuity plan in a company regulated by the FSA, within strict and urgent timescales, leading to a successful audit and a longer term change in company culture;

Successful invocation of Crisis Management plan in major multinational financial institution following impact of SQL slammer worm;

A major "lockout" exercise (actual denial of access to the building) for a financial services company, including a substantial testing of their media response capability;

Preparation of full Business Continuity plan in response to perceived terrorist threat. Invocation on two occasions: once due to major flood and once due to acute security alert involving potential critical illness of essential member of security staff;

Setting up of documentary framework, within HQ requirements, for the production of a full Business Continuity plan for a number of subsidiaries of Multinational Companies;

Stage One of a major Business Continuity Planning exercise involving various members of an offshore Merchant Bank group located within different countries;

Consultancy role in Disaster Recovery of large chemical based Factory in Australia, which was totally destroyed by fire. Successful result, particularly in retaining all staff and increasing client base during invocation period;

Successful invocation of BCP, in European Sales Office of Australian Multinational, on two occasions, due to major Network failures;

Design and supervision of various testing exercises both desktop, practical and IT based, to investigate robustness of clients' Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery plans;

Various Projects involving the design and development of practical measures to increase both resilience and response to any disaster;

Project Management of a number of major Relocation projects amalgamating separate offices into new or refurbished buildings. Including practical input on design and fit out aspects during build/refurbishment, in particular relating to providing a robust environment to withstand potential impact on business continuity;

Planning and control of major refurbishment of 1960s Office Building in Central London in preparation for Move projects involving three major Banking departments (Structured Finance, Investment Banking and Emerging Markets) into this building, introducing increased resilience within the building to withstand potential business disruptions;

Instigation of major reorganisation of all company filing systems in preparation of move to COLD/DIP and subsequent reduction in risk exposure.
