Business Continuity Planning / Disaster Recovery | ||

Business Continuity Management is defined as an holistic management process that identifies potential impacts that threaten an organisation and provides a framework for building resilience with the capability for an effective response that safeguards the interests of its key stakeholders, reputation and value creating activities.
PROFILE:One of our Senior Consultants was initiated into this subject whilst working for a major US multinational during the Libyan crisis. Whilst the BCP then drawn up was intended to cope with a Terrorist Bomb attack, what actually did happen was a serious flood of the building!
This is not untypical:
- A good BCP will give your organisation the flexibility to respond to and recover from any incident.
- Often the "Disaster" that occurs is not the one which originally appeared to carry the highest risk.

Philosophy:We take a very practical approach to this subject (as opposed to some companies who seem to spend so much time and money in developing meaningless risk percentages as part of a very academic Risk Assessment study) and we very much like to play a support role, encouraging and allowing the client to develop and "own" their DRP/BCP rather than having it "prescribed" by a consultant who, in virtually all cases, knows less about their business then they do.
Invariably this leads to a practical BCP which becomes part of the companies daily work plan, rather than a hefty tome which gathers dust on a shelf.
As part of this "practical" approach we are also frequently involved in the testing of Business Continuity plans, organising suitable exercises for Clients and conducting these in close co-operation with their key staff.
